Frequently Asked Questions

Bookings - FAQ
What is the deadline for camper applications?

Please see the first page of the booking form.

Will I get a place at WEC Camps?

We evaluate each application for a camper place so that we can be sure WEC Camps is where every child and teen will enjoy themselves and be able to take a full part in the programme. We aim to be flexible and accommodating. Camper places are generally allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Can I bring a group to WEC Camps?

Yes! If you are booking a family group, youth group, friends etc. then you should be aware that we consider the person completing the booking form to be the Group Organiser.  Although we contact applicants directly where details are provided, to ensure a successful group booking the Group Organiser must be alert to booking deadlines and follow up any further requests for information within their group.  To benefit from the Early Bird or group offers, Group Organisers may submit unnamed applications provided the non-refundable deposit is paid.  Just use an obviously fictional camper name in the booking form.  We cannot accept unnamed adult applications.

If you are planning on volunteering, and haven't been to camp before, we strongly suggest you discuss your plans with us.

What do the fees cover?

Fees cover food, board, all main activities and sessions for both Warrior and Teen Camp.  Teen Camp provides a further selection of bookable activities advertised from July, some of which will incur an additional charge if selected.

Can I get help with the fees?

You may know that WEC subsidies Camps for everyone so that as many people as possible can come. Our Early Bird discount is usually the best possible price before any additional support. If you can pay the full amount then please do so as this supports WEC Camps. However, if you will struggle to afford Camp then consider these options:

  • If you attend a church then first of all ask the leader if they can assist you.
  • Apply to the David Chilcott Fund.  A Camp application must be made before any award will be made. Visit https://www.crnet.org.uk/application-form for details.
  • Contact us if you are still struggling after exploring these routes.
Do we give discounts?

Discounts are advised after booking to your final balance and will not be shown on the booking form.

The Early Bird discount price is usually the best price.  No other discounts are available until after that offer closes.

  • Only one discount may apply per camper booking.
  • Book 10 camper places and get 1 additional place FREE.  Adult or under-age child places do not count towards this offer.
  • 3 campers or more from the same family unit: 15% off full fees.
  • Children of full time Christian ministry workers: 15% off full fees.
What payment options do we have?

All bookings must be made with a non-refundable and non-transferable deposit, regardless of any possible discount. This is paid online during the booking process.

To support you in paying for camp fees, where a booking includes 2 or more camper week fees, you may request to use our payment plan option. This is available through the booking form.

Instalment payments can be made online or by bank transfer.

Volunteering - FAQ
What is the deadline for volunteer applications?

30th June.

What age are your volunteers?
  • Warrior Camp is 18 and upwards. In limited cases we can accept 17 year-olds as kitchen helpers within Warrior Camp. This may not be available and is decided upon on a case by case basis.
  • Teen Camp is 20 and upwards. In limited cases we can accept 19 year-olds as kitchen helpers within Teen Camp. This may not be available and is decided upon on a case by case basis.
Why do volunteers arrive early the day before campers?

Adult volunteers arrive at one day before campers for the Leader Day programme. This is a time for orientation and training as they prepare to serve.

If I volunteer, can I bring my baby or young child?

Mini-Campers (0-8 year olds) have long been a feature of Camp; being able to bring small children allows one parent to serve whilst another cares for their child. We do not provide a formal structured programme for Mini-Campers. It is required that a parent will supervise.  Therefore, it is usually not possible for a lone parent to volunteer whilst also supervising a child.

  • You must contact the camps admin team to discuss roles and arrangements. We advise you do this before booking.  We reserve the right to decline an individual if we believe a week at camp is unsuitable for their situation.
  • For children aged 5+ we charge a modest non-refundable fee to cover food and board. We do not charge for under 5's.
Do you charge for volunteer places?

No. Adult volunteers places are not charged for but we suggest a donation per week to help us offer discounts and keep camper prices low.  We regret that donations are non-refundable.

What volunteer roles are available?
  • Tent Leaders live alongside campers, discipling them and participating in all aspects of the programme.
  • Kitchen Helpers work in the caterer's team to  bless everyone with great food and get to enjoy parts of the camp programme too.
  • Other roles may be available at the discretion of the camp staff.

If you are planning on volunteering, and haven't been to camp before, we strongly suggest you discuss your plans with us before starting our application process.

Do I need to bring my own tent?

No, you do not need to bring your own tent.

Programme - FAQ
What age are children accepted at WEC Camps?

Warrior campers are 9-13 years, Teen campers 13-17 years. We are unable to accept children as campers who are under the age of 9, or who have already reached 18. We do accept children who turn 18 during a camp week but start the week at age 17.

WEC Camps has two streams: Warrior Camp (9-13) and Teen Camp (13-17).  The camps have their own programmes but we may also do things together.

How many weeks of Camp are there?

Each camp has two holiday weeks.  We call these Week A and Week B.

Week A usually starts the last Sunday of July for campers and the day before for volunteers.

Can I come to both weeks?

Yes! You can book for either or both weeks. Week A and B are similar in programme but will likely have some differences. There is no discount for booking both weeks.

How many people will be there?

We usually have up to 150 people on each camp per week.  This makes it feel like a big family.

Travel - FAQ
Do you provide transport to Camp?

We will arrange pick up and drop off to the nearest rail / bus station at the start and end of a Camp week. We also provide travel advice for UK and overseas travellers. We enjoy welcoming parents or friends of campers who may be bringing them to camp, it allows them to learn what Camp is all about!

Can you provide VISA sponsorship?

If your booking is accepted, then although we look forward to you joining us, you are fully responsible for any necessary visa or other document requirements. WEC Camps is unable to offer any form of visa sponsorship.

We will assist where we can, but WEC Camps cannot be held responsible for your travel to the UK.

See https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control/before-you-leave-for-the-uk for more information.  Generally, where a visa is required, we would expect a Standard Visitor visa to be sufficient.

Can I order food for the journey home?

Yes! There's an opportunity to do this once a booking has been made.
